An FO - crocheted market bag

Since we moved into the new apartment I tried to finish as many unfinished projects as I could. Being me, of course, I could not prevent myself from starting something new, though. :)
The eco spirit chose old cassettes to be upcycled. So now I have a new big market bag crocheted out of old cassette tapes. Since it is quite possible that the tapes could release chemicals, it needs to get a lining. Also, this poses the question should every material be upcycled?

It was reinforced with thread around the upper edge and at the handle openings.

Let's find a proper lining now, while I still have all the scrap boxes around. The appartment renovations are scheduled to start next week and I have no idea how I'm going to make anything in the next month or so. :D

Next up, slippers....many many slippers. Very old WIP.

Ciao!

Autumn in Vinkovci - part 2

The second exit at Vinkovačke jeseni with three dresses:

I like this mini collection very much and think I'm going to work on it some more. :)
Which dress is your favorite? Or even, which collection do you like the best? I'd love to hear from you!

Ciao!

Autumn in Vinkovci - part 1

So, last Friday I participated in a fashion show after the opening ceremony of the 52. Vinkovačke jeseni, the biggest and most famous cultural event in Vinkovci and the whole eastern part of Croatia. The festival was created in 1966 with the goal of preserving traditional music, clothing and old customs from this region.
All the creators that participated in the contest Etno kreacija Hrvatske back in June were invited to showcase their collections at the festival also.
I presented two mini collections. The first was inspired by the traditional clothing and lace from island Pag. Here are some photos from the stage:

Sew and slash

Making faux chenille has become my favorite way of upcycling fabric scraps. I just love it. The experimenting, the combinations, the possibilities. It is so exciting to wash the new fabric to see how the pieces will all blend together. Love love love.

This particular piece is rather large. I think I'm going to turn it into a skirt. Yay! An actual goal finally!

Usually, though, I turn faux chenille into unique handbags and purses, like hose underneath.

I hope you like them!

Have a nice evening!
